Jennifer Mckee: THE NIGHT DANCE

The Night Dance

A quiet breeze fills the night;
The soft swaying of lonely trees
rustling against the wind.
The moon gives light
like beaming rays aqainst the earth.
Its almost like a spotlight watching over us
as if to shield us from the darkness.
The grass sways in rhythm with the trees,
The leaves dance with the trees steady beat.
A window opens and light pours steadily,
over the still horizon.
Thick and heavy colors
of fiery orange and burning yellow,
capture the sky.
The dampness is almost unnoticeable,
As nature cools off.
The streets become alive with a constant buzz,
noise penetrates through the air.
There is a soft, sweet smell;
it's fresh and clean.
But it seems that it is gone,
as fast as it came.
And the curtain has once again,
been dropped over the sky.
The leaves begin their dance
but this time,
The stars are watching.
