About Poetry Lovers' Page

Welcome! Poetry Lovers' Page is dedicated purely to poetry. From the beginning, Poetry Lovers’ Page has been dedicated to presenting the best samples of poetry possible. Because English is widely used by the international community, we chose English as our language of delivery.

Edward Bonver established our site in 1995. It was one of the first websites to feature complete collections of poems by poets including Rudyard Kipling, Edgar Allan Poe, and Robert Louis Stevenson, and to offer important works by William Blake, Alfred Lord Tennyson, George Gordon Byron, and William Shakespeare (among others).

Poetry Lovers’ Page also aims to deliver the best of Russian poetry in English translation. We currently feature hundreds (and soon, thousands) of our own original translations of famous Russian poets (please see the complete list). We carefully decide which poems to translate and publish. We continually update this section of our site as we work through our backlog.

Many visitors have asked to republish our translations. We usually honor those requests, but require that sites which republish our work provide a link back to our site. If you see one of our Russian poetry translations without a link back to us, it means that the site did not obtain our permission to republish our work.

We are pleased to announce that we'll soon introduce improvements to our site to make it easier to navigate, adding refined categories and improved search capabilities. We will also bring new content to our visitors, and re-open the Poems Submitted by Our Readers pages.

Because of our long online presence, over the years many sites have linked to us. Thousands of visitors from around the world visit us daily. This demonstrates the popularity and power of poetry, an art which both unites and defines us in our humanity.

We hope you will enjoy your stay with us. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions, suggestions, feedback, or any other comments. We are always happy to hear from you!
