MIKHAIL LVOV: "I Dreamed In Night..."

"I Dreamed In Night..."

1943
I dreamed in night of former peaceful years,
Of summer houses, whose now vanished trace,
Of flowers of June – the fragrant band –
Which you were throwing to me in peaceful land.
I dreamed of friends, I had before the war,
And, like a child, was touched by, more and more:
My fate sends now so little bliss,
That I am glad to see it in my dreams.
And I waked up, again full of my strengths,
And for my dreams, I thanked my love and friends.
For clear look, for dreamed in sleep a kiss,
I thank you all, appeared in my dreams.

Translated by Yevgeny Bonver, August, 2001
